Abstract
The study is about the role of a radio in the campaigning against child abuse Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. The study assess the trends of child abuse in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government, finds out the various forms of child abuse in the town, examines how children are affected by those forms of child abuse; investigates the major causes of child abuse, finds out the roles of the radio in the fight against child abuse and comes up with recommendations on how the radio can be effectively used in the fight against child abuse in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The research employed a survey research method, and respondents were selected using purposive sampling and recording methods. Data collection was done through structured questionnaires. The Diffusion of Innovation Theory served as the theoretical framework for the study.
The study's population consisted of both parents and children in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government, Kwara State, with 300 questionnaires administered, and 200 copies retrieved for analysis. Quantitative analysis was conducted using descriptive data analysis.
However, this research observed that those who do not own radios have not gained in the role of the radio and so recommends that sensitization to attract them should be made so that they acquire radios in their homes.
